
A late-night house party in Mountain View, a typically quiet neighborhood near Hickory, North Carolina, turned deadly early Sunday morning, June 1. One person was killed and eleven others injured after gunfire erupted during the gathering.
The Catawba County Sheriff’s Office responded to reports of shots fired at around 12:45 a.m. on Walnut Acres Drive. The party, which drew an estimated 100 attendees—including minors—was being held at a home with a pool and spread into both the front and back yards. The violence also spilled over into a neighboring property, creating a large and active crime scene.
Authorities have confirmed that multiple firearms were used in the shooting. One individual was pronounced dead, another remains in critical condition, and several others are still hospitalized. As of now, no suspects have been identified and no arrests have been made.
