The B-2 Spirit has never been confirmed to be shot down by enemy fire.
Confirmed B-2 crashes have been attributed to mechanical or technical issues.
In 2008, a B-2 Spirit crashed shortly after takeoff from Andersen Air Force Base in Guam. Moisture had affected its sensors, producing faulty data that led to a stall. Both pilots ejected safely, but the aircraft was completely destroyed.
In 2021, another B-2 sustained damage during a landing incident at Whiteman Air Force Base in Missouri. There was no evidence of hostile activity in that event.
Claims that a B-2 has ever been shot down remain unsubstantiated. The bomber’s stealth capabilities make it extremely difficult to detect or intercept. Its design incorporates radar-absorbing materials, a minimal radar cross-section, low infrared signature, high-altitude operation, and sophisticated electronic countermeasures. Missions are also meticulously planned to avoid known air defense systems.
