🍪 Cookies and Cream Drip Cake 🍪


Fluffy vanilla cake layers filled and frosted with Oreo-speckled buttercream, topped with chocolate ganache, whole Oreos, and chocolate chips.


📋 Ingredients

For the Cake Layers:

  • 2½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp baking soda
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, room temp
  • 1¾ cups granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 tbsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • ½ cup sour cream
  • 1 cup crushed Oreo cookies (filling removed, optional)

For the Oreo Buttercream Frosting:

  • 1½ cups unsalted butter, room temp
  • 5 cups powdered sugar
  • 2–3 tbsp heavy cream or milk
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt
  • 12–15 finely crushed Oreos

For the Chocolate Ganache Drip:

  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • ½ cup heavy cream

For Decorating:

  • 10–12 whole Oreo cookies
  • ½ cup chocolate chips
  • Extra buttercream for piping
  • Crushed Oreos for the base

🧁 Instructions

1. Bake the Cake Layers:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line three 8-inch round pans.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In another large bowl, cream the butter and sugar until fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well. Stir in vanilla.
  4. Mix in the sour cream, then alternate adding the dry ingredients and buttermilk, beginning and ending with dry ingredients.
  5. Fold in the crushed Oreos gently.
  6. Divide batter evenly between pans and bake for 25–30 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  7. Let cool completely before assembling.

2. Make the Oreo Buttercream:

  1. Beat butter until creamy. Gradually add powdered sugar.
  2. Add vanilla, salt, and cream/milk, adjusting consistency.
  3. Fold in finely crushed Oreos.

3. Make the Ganache:

  1. Heat heavy cream until hot (but not boiling). Pour over chocolate chips.
  2. Let sit 2 minutes, then stir until smooth. Cool slightly before using.

4. Assemble the Cake:

  1. Place one cake layer on your stand. Spread a layer of Oreo buttercream. Repeat for all layers.
  2. Apply a crumb coat and chill for 20 minutes.
  3. Frost with a smooth coat of buttercream and chill again.

5. Decorate:

  1. Drip cooled ganache over the chilled cake edges and top.
  2. Pipe buttercream swirls around the top edge.
  3. Add whole Oreos on each swirl.
  4. Sprinkle chocolate chips and Oreo crumbs generously on top and base.
