For the Chocolate Cake (3 layers):
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- ΒΎ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 2 tsp baking powder

- 1 cup buttermilk
- Β½ cup vegetable oil
- 2 large eggs

For the Oreo Buttercream Frosting:
- 1Β½ cups unsalted butter (room temperature)
- 5 cups powdered sugar
- 2β3 tbsp heavy cream or milk
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 12β15 crushed Oreo cookies (filling removed, optional)
- Pinch of salt
For the Chocolate Ganache Drip:
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- Β½ cup heavy cream
For Decoration:
- Whole Oreo cookies
- Mini chocolate chips or chocolate chunks
- Extra frosting for piping
- Crushed Oreo crumbs for base
π§ Instructions
1. Bake the Chocolate Cakes:
- Preheat oven to 350Β°F (175Β°C). Grease and line three 8-inch round cake pans with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, whisk flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Add buttermilk, oil, eggs, and vanilla. Beat until well combined.
- Slowly mix in hot water until the batter is smooth (it will be thin).
- Divide evenly between pans and bake for 30β35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Cool in pans for 10 minutes, then remove and cool completely on wire racks.
2. Make the Oreo Buttercream:
- Beat the butter on medium-high until creamy (about 2β3 minutes).
- Gradually add powdered sugar, vanilla, and a pinch of salt.
- Add heavy cream 1 tablespoon at a time until desired consistency.
- Fold in finely crushed Oreo cookies. (Sift crumbs if piping for smooth texture.)
3. Make the Ganache Drip:
- Heat heavy cream in the microwave until hot (not boiling).
- Pour over chocolate chips and let sit 2 minutes, then stir until smooth.
- Let cool slightly before using.
4. Assemble the Cake:
- Level your cakes if needed. Place the first layer on a cake board or stand.
- Spread a layer of Oreo buttercream, repeat with remaining layers.
- Frost the entire cake with a thin crumb coat, chill 15β30 mins, then apply a final smooth coat.
5. Decorate:
- Carefully drip ganache over the edges of the chilled cake using a spoon or squeeze bottle.
- Pipe large rosettes or swirls of buttercream around the top edge.
- Top each swirl with a whole Oreo cookie.
- Sprinkle mini chocolate chips or chunks and scatter Oreo crumbs around the base and top.
